Sesame 1.1-RC2 released

Sesame 1.1-RC2 is the second release candidate for version 1.1 of
Sesame. It features a number of bug fixes and performance
improvements, as well as a style makeover for the web interface and improved user documentation.

Highlights:

  • Improved handling of unicode characters in parsers, writers and
    query engines.

  • Improved layout of the web interface.

  • Improved performance of directType/SubClass/SubProperty caches in
    in-memory repositories.

  • Improved user documentation, including an Introduction chapter and
    Troubleshooting and FAQ chapters.

  • Numerous small bug fixes.

As usual, the new release is available from http://www.openrdf.org/download.jsp

Comments most welcome.

Re: Sesame 1.1-RC2 released

I just want to report that we've managed to get Sesame 1.1-RC2
to work under Tomcat 5.0.28 on Linux (Redhat 9) with MySQL 4.0.12. The lack of decent error reporting from various components caused problems as usual but in the end I didn't even have to reconfigure anything, just setting the correct parameters in system.conf and issuing the right GRANT on the mysql database was enough.

During debugging I realised it was the first time JDBC was ever tried with our MySQL database, so I needed something to find out whether the JDBC connection was working at all. It turns out that squirrel-sql, a GUI JDBC database interface, is quite suitable for this purpose.

Was there a particular problem for which the error reporting of Sesame was not satisfactory? If so, we can try and improve it.

Sounds useful, thanks for the tip.
